Project Overview

A product-intelligence brain that lives inside WordPress

ATWIR runs a WooCommerce store with a deep, fast-moving catalogue. To keep product data enriched, categorised, and in sync across systems, the business had stitched together more than twenty-three Make.com scenarios — a sprawling web of automations that grew more expensive and more fragile by the month.

Growth Nexus built the ATWIR Brain Engine: a custom WordPress plugin that absorbs all of that logic into one native, dashboard-driven system. Product intelligence, automation, and AI-assisted enrichment now run inside WordPress itself — owned by the client, with no per-task SaaS meter ticking in the background.

The Challenge

Twenty-three automations, ballooning fees, and silent failures

Make.com made it easy to start automating, but at scale the cracks showed. Each scenario was billed per operation, costs scaled with catalogue size, and a change in one place could quietly break another. When an automation failed, the team often found out only when a product showed up wrong on the storefront.

ATWIR needed the intelligence those scenarios provided — without the fragility, the runaway costs, or the dependence on a third-party platform they didn't control.

What stood in the way

23+ Make.com scenarios that were expensive to run and almost impossible to reason about as a whole.

Per-operation pricing meant automation costs grew every time the catalogue did.

Failures were silent — broken scenarios surfaced as wrong data on the live store, not as alerts.

Core business logic lived on a platform the client neither owned nor could fully customise.

Our Solution

One native plugin that owns the logic end to end

We mapped every Make.com scenario, found the duplication and dead ends, and rebuilt the essential logic as a single coherent WordPress plugin sitting directly on top of WooCommerce. Instead of dozens of external scenarios firing webhooks at each other, ATWIR now runs its intelligence in-house, on its own server, with full visibility.

The Brain Engine ships a custom admin dashboard where the team can see product-intelligence status at a glance, trigger enrichment, and review what the system has done. AI handles the heavy lifting — classifying products, generating and normalising attributes, and flagging anomalies — while WordPress cron and a queued job system keep everything running reliably in the background.

Crucially, every operation is logged and every failure raises an alert. Nothing fails silently anymore, and because it's a plugin the client owns, new rules are a code change away — not a new monthly line item.

What We Delivered

The pieces that made it work

Product Intelligence Dashboard

A native WordPress admin screen that surfaces enrichment status, anomalies, and activity for the whole catalogue in one place.

AI-Assisted Enrichment

LLM-powered classification and attribute generation cleans and completes product data automatically, with human-in-the-loop review.

Native Automation Engine

The logic from 23+ Make.com scenarios, consolidated into queued, schedulable jobs that run inside WordPress — no external platform required.

Cost-Free At Scale

No per-operation billing. The engine runs on the client's own infrastructure, so processing more products no longer means a bigger invoice.

Logging & Alerts

Every run is recorded and every failure triggers an alert, replacing silent breakage with clear, actionable visibility.

Owned & Extensible

Because it's a plugin the client owns, new rules and integrations are built in directly — not rented from a third party.

Results & Impact

Expensive SaaS automation, replaced by an engine they own

23+

Scenarios replaced

A sprawling Make.com web consolidated into one native plugin.

$0

Per-task fees

Per-operation SaaS billing eliminated — automation now runs in-house.

1

Source of truth

All product intelligence lives in a single, owned WordPress system.

Zero

Silent failures

Logging and alerting surface every issue before it hits the storefront.

We were drowning in Make.com scenarios and the bill kept climbing. Growth Nexus rebuilt the whole thing as one plugin we own. It's faster, it doesn't break quietly anymore, and our automation costs basically disappeared.
